In the event of a violation, the affected tax preparation utility/software may be blacklisted without notice and such blacklist will be posted on the e-filing site. No returns using blacklisted software will be permitted to be uploaded until such time as the software vendor is able to provide details of the fix in the software. This can lead to avoidable inconvenience for taxpayers and loss of reputation for software vendors for which the income tax department will not be liable.
