Google Chrome’s default font settings work fine for most people. Some people often find the fonts blurry in the browser, making it difficult to read what is on the screen. We are going to show you how to fix Google Chrome blurry font rendering issue on Windows.

Fix blurry fonts in google chrome

The problem could be due to incorrect settings on Chrome or the way Windows handles rendering text on the screen. We will discuss all the possible scenarios and solve the fuzzy font issue for you.

1. Check the Google Chrome font settings

Google Chrome offers a default font customization menu from settings. Here is how you can use and customize the font however you want.

Step 1: Open Google Chrome and click on the three-dot menu in the upper right corner.

2nd step: Go to Settings and search for Fonts.

Find fonts

Step 3: Select the Customize Fonts menu.

Step 4: You can check the font size and select different font styles from the same menu.

Customize Chrome Fonts

Choose the one that best suits your eyes and close the Settings menu.

2. Use ClearType Text Tuner

Windows has a built-in ClearType text adjustment tool to help users adjust the style and appearance of the font on a laptop or PC.

Press the Windows key and search for ClearType. This will open the ClearType Text Tuner menu.

Use the clear text tuner

The goal is to personalize the text you see on the screen so that it is sharper, clearer and easier to read. Tap Next and select your monitor. Windows will walk you through five sample text paragraphs and ask you to choose the text that works best for you.

After the investigation, the operating system will adjust the font style throughout the system to make the text easier to read.

3. Change Windows resolution and Windows scale

By default, Windows recommends using a scaling setting of 150%. However, it may be too low when using your laptop or PC with a 4K monitor. You need to make sure that you have selected the correct scaling and resolution in the Windows Settings menu. Here’s how.

Step 1: Open the Windows Settings app.

2nd step: Go to System and select Display.

Open the window display menu

Step 3: Select the preferred scaling percentage in Scale and Layout. Most GT members use 175% when using Windows with a monitor.

A sketchy Chromium extension can also lead to a blurry font throughout the browser. It can be difficult to identify a single extension for this behavior. Instead, you can turn off most extensions in your Chrome browser and restart the app.

Step 1: Open Google Chrome and click on the three-dot menu at the top.

2nd step: Go to More Tools and select Extensions.

Open the extensions menu
