SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Suffolk city leader is looking to help residents, virtually, find out if and how much they owe money.
Suffolk City Treasurer Ronald H. Williams is partnering with the Virginia Department of Treasury’s Unclaimed Property Division to organize the event.
Participating in the Unclaimed Property Search is free of charge, risk and obligation to residents. Assistant Treasurer Andrew Owen says these unclaimed properties can take the form of unpaid wages, security deposits, insurance policies, utility deposits and reimbursements, or even old forgotten bank accounts.
On Tuesday November 17 and Wednesday November 18, citizens of Suffolk can call the Unclaimed Property Division between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for assistance.
The number is 1-833-302-0704.
Williams says this isn’t the first unclaimed property event he’s hosted.
“I’ve had them attend Peanut Fest on several occasions over the years, and the events have been a huge hit. Last spring, I hosted them at North Suffolk Town Hall and Library so that the citizens are looking for unclaimed property,” Williams added.
