Save $ 200 or more on a new Galaxy Chromebook
The next generation of Chrome OS devices have started to hit the market and the new class of Tiger Lake Chromebooks will pave the way for the next evolution of our beloved operating system. Linux on Chrome OS will be out of beta soon, and the container technology that runs the Debian 10 framework will soon begin to harness more raw CPU and GPU power. It will be a much needed boost when Google finally brings full support for Borealis, aka Steam on Chrome OS. While these new devices are exciting, and it looks like they’ll be more economical than previous flagship models, it also means big discounts on current-gen high-performance hardware.
There is a lot to like about the current line of Comet Lake devices available to users. For starters, the 10th Generation Intel processors are more than powerful enough for heavy-duty tasks like running development environments through Linux, playing games on the Play Store, and consuming high-quality media on the Web. On top of that, devices like Acer’s Chromebook Spin 713 and Samsung’s Galaxy Chromebooks are nothing short of amazing. The best part? These high-end devices currently enjoy regular discounts, and for now, qualifying purchases can save up to $ 500 on a Galaxy Chromebook.

If you’re a Best Buy loyalist, both iterations are on offer, and you can pick up one of the Galaxy Chromebooks for as little as $ 449 for the Celeron model. The Galaxy Chromebook 2 is a solid device, but I would steer clear of the 4GB Celeron model simply because you’re still paying premium money for a Chromebook that could get bogged down under a heavier workload. The Core i3 version gives you 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage while saving you $ 100 and $ 599 is a decent price for this Chromebook. That said, the original Samsung Galaxy Chromebook, at its current selling price, is the best deal for your money.
If you take the Core i5, 8GB / 256GB Galaxy Chromebook with its 4K display and retractable stylus and save $ 200. That’s a steal on a beautiful and powerful device whose only real downside is the poor battery life. If that discount isn’t enough to get you excited, you could save more by going to Samsung and qualifying for the company’s discount program. The Galaxy Discount on Samsung.com is only $ 150, but teachers, students, military and others can get an additional price reduction that will save you money. For example, my military discount brings the total price of the Chromebook down to $ 999 to $ 509.40 before taxes. That’s just under 50% off, making it a great deal on a really nice Chromebook. Additionally, Rakuten is currently paying 6% cashback to Samsung, which takes the total price well below the $ 500 mark.

The Core i3 Galaxy Chromebook 2 is also on sale from Samsung for $ 499, which is $ 100 less than Best Buy’s current offering. You also do not need to take advantage of the discount program for this offer. If you’re entitled to some extra savings, the Galaxy Chromebook 2 will only set you back $ 399 and that’s a lot of Chromebooks for very little money.
