Saints report: CSS football teams lose on the road
St. Scholastica fell behind after just 35 seconds of play and never recovered, losing 3-0 to Augsburg on Saturday, September 25, 2021 in Minneapolis in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game.
Kobby Owu went 1-0 in the first minute and Tomas Piza-Gonzalez doubled the advantage in the 11th minute for the unbeaten Auggies (8-0, 3-0 MIAC).
The Saints generated five shots against four for the Auggies in the first half, but Owu’s 54th-minute goal sealed their fate.
Liam Lothian made five saves for CSS (5-4, 2-2 MIAC), who travels to Northland for a non-conference game on Wednesday.
Women’s football team unable to resist La Crosse
A possible 17-3 shortfall in shots on target overtook the St. Scholastica women’s soccer team as Wisconsin-La Crosse edged out 3-2 in a non-conference game at La Crosse on Saturday.
Morgan’s goal on Friday in the 47th minute gave CSS a 2-1 lead in the final half hour of the game, but Ainsley Allan equalized in the 68th and a winner in the 74th for the 6-1-1 Eagles .
Payton Kolles scored a goal in the first half for CSS (1-5-2). Taelynn Gittins made two saves in 12 minutes of the second half before giving in to Brianna Jorgenson, who stopped 12 shots. The Saints return to MIAC on Wednesday at home against St. Olaf.
