LAHORE PR – LUMS graduates have passed the recently held Central Higher Service (CSS) exams with 3 alumni obtaining high-level positions. Hafiz Ali Naeem Sheikh, a graduate of BSc Management Science (2017), secured a managerial position and was inducted into the Administrative Services of Pakistan (PAS). Hafiz is joined by Ahsan Fraz Gondal, graduate of BSc Accounting and Finance (2019), and Haroon Sahu, BSc Economics and Mathematics (2020), who both achieved second and third positions in the CSS 2021 exam, respectively.

Congratulating the alumni for achieving top honors in their civil service exams, LUMS Vice-Chancellor Dr. Arshad Ahmad said, “We are very proud of your hard work which has resulted in this much deserved! The Central Higher Service Examinations are no small feat, and it takes months (and in some cases years) of study and preparation to pass them, and then eventually be placed in various positions within the Pakistani civil service. . This year, we’re thrilled that the most number of people to receive top marks on the exam came from LUMS. Ali, Ahsan and Haroon are among twenty-eight LUMS alumni who will enter public service to give back to Pakistan and, through their work, help bring about critical change in the lives of others.

Asked how LUMS has helped students prepare for these exams, Ahsan said, “LUMS has played a key role in equipping me with tools for analysis and critical thinking. The courses helped me become a better writer and allowed me to pass the CSS trial on the first try. »

Hafiz Ali Naeem Sheikh is also a National Outreach Program (NOP) scholarship holder. The NOP is an initiative to promote cultural diversity and inclusion by providing a world-class education to talented students from across the country with over 140% funding for tuition and other expenses.

Crediting her success at LUMS, Hafiz shared, “I actively participated in extracurricular activities at LUMS and connected with peers from different academic and social backgrounds. This experience helped me get selected for the Near East and South Asia Exchange Scholarship Program to study in the United States for a year and ultimately motivated me to join the civil service.

The Director of Advancement Office, LUMS, Ms. Nuzhat Kamran also commented on this achievement. “Over the past few years, LUMS graduates have secured CSS exam positions. And this year, they took the first three places! They join a community of more than 200 alumni, who have passed these exams to date. This group mentors and guides other Luminites aspiring to join the public service. I hope this tradition of mentorship will continue and that our CSS alumni will inspire the community as they serve our country,” she said.

In addition to Law and Humanities and Social Sciences students, this year many students from Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering at LUMS passed and took positions in the coveted exams. In recent years, more and more students and alumni of LUMS have entered this competition after graduation and are qualified. In line with the University’s mission, LUMS looks forward to its graduates contributing to the prosperity of the country through public service.
