Although you need to download a Firefox site blocker extension to shut down websites, it is very straightforward and it is straightforward to use. You can even block websites at certain times of the day, such as blocking YouTube while you are working. Here’s how:

1. Install the Firefox Blocking Site add-on

   Go to the Firefox add-on store and type “Block the site” in the search bar. The extension we will be using is called Block the site by a user called Ray. We recommend that you click on it in the list and install it to be able to follow along.

2. Press “Add to Firefox”

3. Click “Add” to accept permission prompts

4. Press “OK” until the prompt “Block site has been added”

5. Open your add-on settings

   You can do this by tapping on the hamburger menu at the top right and then clicking on “Complementary modules and themes”, or by pressing Ctrl + Shift + A.

6. OR: type “about: addons” in your URL bar

7. Click on “Extensions” in the right sidebar

8. Tap the three dots next to the Block Site Firefox extension

9. Click on “Options”

10. Enter the website you want to block in the “Add rule” field and press “Add”

    You can also adjust the blocking schedule if you want to block sites on certain days and times.

11. Scroll down to the “Tools” section and press “Save options”

12. Try to access the blocked site

    If your Firefox website blocker is working correctly, you should get the following message:

The method to block a website on Firefox mobile is a bit different. If you are on Android, you can add a free extension called NG leech block to your mobile browser. It works pretty much the same as Site Blocker above.

If you’re using iOS or iPad OS, you can use the built-in Screen Time tool instead. Just keep in mind that this will block sites on all browsers, not just Firefox. It will also apply to any device using your iCloud account, so beware. Here is how you can use it:

1. Open the settings and press “Sceen Time> Content and Privacy Restrictions”

   Activate the option that says “Content and Confidentiality Restrictions” and press the “Content restrictions” heading below.

2. Tap the “Web Content” heading in the list of content restrictions

3. Tap “Limit Adult Websites” and tap “Add Website” under “Never Allow”

4. Type in the URL of the website you want to block and press “Done”

   When you try to visit the website, you should now receive the notification that it has been blocked.
