CSS Women’s Hockey Team Gears Up For New Conference Led By New Head Coach
DULUTH, MN – After losing the conference final last year, the ladies of the St. Scholastica squad are ready for redemption led by a new head coach, competing in a new conference.
New Head Coach Julianna Vasichek is eager to seize this new opportunity at MIAC as Head Coach of the Saints. Vasichek is keen on the challenge as a former athlete herself skating with the Bulldogs. It’s no secret that the Saints are aiming to return to the conference championship. With 24 of 26 returning, including four super seniors, the road to a championship season is underway.
âWe have a lot of leadership and a lot of people who want to be challenged as leaders. Lori has been waiting a few years behind Lexi Thomeczek, and she’s really embraced that role. She’s playing with confidence, and having that wall behind you. lets play the system we’re doing, which is very offensive. Then right off the bat and on âDâ we have leaders all over the place and people who want the puck and want to attack the net and want it on their stick, so I think it’s an exciting place to be, âVasichek said.
âI think we’re all super excited to be at MIAC this year. I know it’s something that I and a few other returnees are looking forward to. I think we’re going to do really well if not excel. I think we’ve got it. a really good team this year, and I think we’re going to be really successful in our new conference and hopefully start off well, âsaid senior defenseman Murray.
Murray adds that their main goal this year is to win the conference and qualify for the national championship.
CSS opens its season next Tuesday at home against UW-Superior.
