CSS investigates suspected ethics violations
(MENAFN – Panama press room) Just days after two senior officials from the Ministry of Health (Minsa) were dismissed from their posts due to a possible conflict of interest The Social Security Fund (CSS) announced have opened an internal investigation to determine the possible commission of breaches of ethics by officials of the institution.
According to the CSS, the people targeted by the survey were executives of a company that participated in an acquisition process in 2020.
The company linked to the civil servants was awarded contracts for the supply of laboratory supplies, having presented its offer to the entities in accordance with the law. “CSS warns that we would face a possible violation of established conflict of interest regulations,” a statement read.
The entity recalled that any CSS official who violates ethics will be investigated, and the entity will take the corresponding sanctions against them.
Leonard Labrador , who was director of epidemiology, and Ana Lorena Chang , a former regional public health chief, are under investigation after discovering they are linked to a company that took samples from travelers to the Pacific Islands.
