College football: Saints blocked by Carleton
St. Scholastica had its most competitive performance of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season, but it only resulted in a 30-14 loss to Carleton on Saturday at Public Schools Stadium.
Nick Schlender’s one-yard dip gave the Saints their first lead of the season, 7-3, near the halfway point of the first quarter. However, the Knights scored the next 20 points of the game, including a narrow assist on the last play of the first half for a 17-7 lead at the break.
Byron Bishop added his own one-yard quarterback in the third quarter, but the Saints fell to 0-4.
Bishop threw for 151 yards and an interception on 26 of 49 attempts, with Mitchell Adrian capturing a game-high 15 passes for 86 yards. Schlender paced the CSS ground game with 73 yards on 19 carries.
CSS will play its next two road games starting October 23 in St. Olaf.
