Catholic school board celebrates 38 students with leadership awards
The past two years battling the COVID-19 pandemic have been both difficult and chaotic for students, but that hasn’t stopped many of them from stepping up and taking on roles and responsibilities. leadership.
As part of Catholic Education Week (May 1-May 6), the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board honored 38 students who did just that through the annual Student Leadership Awards. Catholic, celebrated recently at Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School in Peterborough.
One student was selected from each primary and secondary school and the winners received a special medallion. The recipients of the awards were nominated by principals, teachers and, in some cases, classmates. Each has demonstrated exceptional qualities of Catholic leadership, family commitment, involvement in school affairs, involvement in community activities, and dedication to a difficult situation or task.
“These graduates are true role models who embody the goals of our expectations for Catholic graduates,” said board chairman Braden Leal. “Catholic Education Week provides us with the perfect time to honor student leaders in our schools and reflect on the importance of faith in our lives and the role it plays in Catholic education.
