How to block images with Chrome’s built-in setting

Google Chrome includes many site control settings with which you can configure permissions and website content. This browser’s image content options allow you to turn off images on all or more specific websites.

You can block images with these settings as follows:

1. Click it Customize and control Google Chrome menu button, which is on the far right of the URL toolbar.
2. To select Settings in the menu to display this tab.

Any webpages you now open in Chrome won’t include any images. If you prefer, you can instead configure only specific pages to show no images.

To do this, click on the To add button for the Not allowed to display images option. Then enter the URL of a website to block images in the text box that opens and select the To add option.

If you keep the Do not allow sites to display images option selected, you can still allow specific sites to display images. To do this, select To add for the Allowed to display images option. Enter the URL of a website to allow images and click To add.

How to delete webpage images in Chrome with Image Blocker

Beyond Chrome’s built-in settings, you can disable images on pages with extensions for this browser. Image Blocker is an extension that adds a handy button to disable webpage images in Chrome’s URL toolbar.

You can click this button to turn off images on all open pages in a tab.

To add this extension to Chrome, open the Image blocker web page. Click it Add to Chrome button on this page.

How to delete images from webpages in Chrome using text mode

Text mode is another good extension to turn off images on web pages in Google Chrome. The extension applies a black and white text-only mode to pages.

Besides removing images, it also removes videos, animations and advertisements from web pages. With fully decluttering pages, text mode can make browsing noticeably faster.

You can get text mode from its Chrome Store webpage. Select the Add to Chrome on this page to install the extension. Then you will see a Text mode button in the browser toolbar.

Now click on it Text mode button. Doing so will enable its text-only mode for all the pages you open in Google Chrome. Open a few pages of web pages to see the result.

You will notice that the browser displays these pages in black and white. If you prefer to turn off images but keep color pages, you will need to configure the B&W text mode options.

To do this, right click on the Text mode button and select Options. Then deselect the Desaturate colors and White background pages checkboxes.

There you can also configure the image replacement boxes displayed on the pages. You can choose to have completely gray boxes or blank boxes with diagonal lines on them.

Block images to speed up your browsing
